The emoji masters have been cooking up a new batch of symbols for us, and they are about ready to be served.
Bacon, avocado and pancakes are among 72 new emoji officially announced Thursday. The emoji are set to be released in Unicode 9.0 on June 21 by the Unicode Consortium, which makes final decisions about the universal emoji roster.
A new emoji installment has been in the works for some time, and while the emoji will be released later this month, they may not come to your phone right away. Expect them some time after June 21, but that’s not a deadline for OS providers, according to Emojipedia. If you’re not happy with that, feel free to use the new nauseated emoji.
Or just opt for the drooling face as you peruse through new food offerings, including pickle, shrimp, whiskey glass, potato, kiwi, peanuts and a croissant.
Nearly two dozen “smileys and people” emoji will also make their debut, including a ROTFL face, Pinocchio face, face palm, clown face, a sneezing face and a pregnant woman.
The release is good news for duck, bat, owl, fox, deer and rhino fans, too. Those are just some of the 14 new “Animals and Nature” emoji added to the library.
Jugglers, martial artists and boxers will also be represented in the 12 “Activities” emoji, while a drum and scooter have been added to “Travel & Places” and “Objects” respectively.
