New marketing tool gets “positive feedback” from EU farmers

Copa-Cogeca has given its backing to a new online tool which it says will help farmers across Europe become better at marketing their produce.

Commenting at Expo Milano on the online Farm Inc project, Copa vice-president, Maira Dzelzkaleja (pictured above), said her organisation had received “positive feedback” on the project, including from national governments and the European Commission (EC). Read more

Declining pork exports reported for US and Canada

US pork exports fell during the first nine months of this year despite production running 8% ahead of 2014, according to AHDB Pork.

The US decline, although less than 1% year on year to 1.1 million tonnes, was still something of a “surprise” with the country’s exports being “hindered” by the strength of the US dollar. Read more

UK pigmeat imports and exports both show rising trend

August was a strong trading month for the UK pigmeat trade with both imports and exports recording increased levels, compared to last year, according to AHDB Pork.

Based on the latest figures from HMRC, pork imports were 8% higher in August 2015 than in the same month last year, at just over 30,000 tonnes. This was the highest figure for August since 2008 and was the third consecutive month to show rising imports. Read more
